Two Lions of the Trial Bar

James Neal '57 of Neal & Harwell in Nashville, and Bobby Lee Cook '48, of Cook & Connelly in Summerville, Georgia, were among seven attorneys over age 70 featured in a cover story, "Lions of the Trial Bar," in the March 2009 edition of the ABA Journal. "Vanderbilt is exactly the kind of place that produces great trial lawyers," wrote Harrison "Buzz" Frahn IV '96, a litigator with firm in Palo Alto, California, in a letter to the law school in which he enclosed a copy of the March 2009 ABA Journal. "The combination of academic rigor and an emphasis on being a 'normal' person results in a lawyer who has both the smarts to go toe-to-toe with anyone and the personality to be understood by a jury of regular folks, so it should come as no surprise to anyone who knows Vanderbilt Law School that these distinguished graduates occupy two of the seven precious spots."
